Deloitte – We are the champions

The action was fast and furious when MCASS held its annual football tournament, sponsored by Sphere Group, at Pitz Powerleague in Ardwick.

Some 16 teams enrolled from firms around Manchester including BDO, PKF, Mazars, Horwarth Clark Whitehall and the Big 4.
The inter-firm rivalry was intense from the first whistle, and the clear frontrunners from the outset were E&Y and Deloitte Personal Tax, who surged to the last four along with KPMG Audit and Deloitte Corporate Tax.
The semi-finals saw a consistent KPMG eventually succumb to tiredness as E&Y pulled out a convincing 4-1 victory, and Deloitte Personal Tax beat their colleagues 1-0 to make it through.
It was a nail-biting final, with the defeated teams at the sidelines, and the finalists striving for victory for their respective firms. At the final whistle it was 1-1, which meant sudden death! And it was Deloitte Personal Tax who kept up the momentum with a late goal from their striker, landing them with the title of champions. All in all, an exhilarating evening of football from Manchester’s trainees!
