Debt help please

More than a third of ICAEW accountancy students want debt help advice, says research from the Chartered Accountants’ Benevolent Association (CABA).
When asked if they need debt management support some 34% of 251 students surveyed said ‘yes please’, another 32% said that they had debt but believed they were managing it well. CEO Kath Haines said that CABA has certainly seen a rise in the calls made to its debt service from students in recent months. She felt that the rising cost of living is hitting some students quite hard, and many feel that their debt is getting slowly out of hand, causing high levels of stress. Haines said the biggest debt issue that CABA encountered among students was simply that they tended to leave it too long before asking for help and advice.
