First time passing
25 July 2009
Less ACCA and CIMA final level PQs are passing their exams at their first go, according to the latest figures released from the accountancy regulator – the Professional Oversight Board (POB). Just 54% of CIMAs are currently passing the final exams at their first sitting, this is down some 6 percentage points.
For the ACCA the dip year-on-year was just 1%, but it is still going the wrong way for PQs. The story is very different for ICAEW and ICAI trainees where the first time pass rates are much higher at 85% and 82% respectfully. For all the bodies, where information is available, more than 50% of the overall passes were first time passes.
