The accountant's apprentice
26 January 2017
Big changes are coming, and being an apprentice may mean something very different in the future, particularly from May 2017.
The push comes from the introduction of the Apprenticeship Levy, which charges 0.5% on company payrolls over £3m. And, this is only the start, all employers will eventually be contributing to the apprenticeship pot.
Apprenticeships have the potential to become the ‘term’ used for all in-house company enclosed programme. So, even graduates will in effect go on an apprenticeship programme to get their accountancy professional qualifications.
One thing you will notice is that the schemes will all run for 4 years too, as this is what the government rules simulate.
